Formentera Named Best Sustainable Destination by National Geographic Readers
Formentera has been recognized as the Best Sustainable Destination by the readers of National Geographic magazine, a prestigious accolade that highlights the island’s ongoing commitment to responsible tourism and environmental preservation. The announcement was made by the Consell de Formentera following the results of the magazine’s third annual travel awards.
This year’s edition of the awards featured 80 finalists from around the world. Ultimately, 16 destinations received official awards across various categories, while an additional five received special mentions. The winners were selected through a rigorous process that included both expert evaluation and an open voting period in which National Geographic readers were invited to cast their votes across 16 different categories, including destinations, establishments, and tourism projects.
