Access control in ses Illetes and natural areas of Formentera starting May 10
The Formentera Council has announced the resumption of vehicle access control to the ses Illetes area, part of the Natural Park of ses Salines of Ibiza and Formentera, beginning on Sunday, May 10, 2026. Five days later, on May 15, the regulation of access roads to the lighthouse des Cap, es calĂł des Mort, and es Ram will come into effect, three natural spaces of special fragility that require careful management of traffic and parking.
The regulation period replicates the extension already applied during the 2025 season, bringing forward the start of control to mid-May and extending it until the first half of October. The objective is to adapt to the increasing flow of visitors arriving on the island outside the peak summer months, while ensuring the mobility of emergency services and the preservation of the environment.
Control Service Schedule in Ses Illetes
The service in ses Illetes will be managed by the company IBIFOR and will operate with variable hours depending on the time of year. Between May 10 and 31, and between September 16 and 30, the control will be active from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the des Cavall d’en BorrĂ s 1 parking lot excluded from control except in situations of high influx or due to weather conditions. The same schedule will be maintained from October 1 to 15, extending the exclusion to the Levante 3 parking lot as well, except in cases of exceptional saturation.
From June 1 to July 15, and from September 1 to 15, the schedule will be extended from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. During the peak season, from July 16 to August 31, the service will also operate from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., although the Cavall d’en BorrĂ s 1 and 2 parking lots will remain under control until 9:00 p.m. Access to the Natural Park by quad is totally prohibited.
Distribution of goods and commercial access
In order for commercial activity to coexist with traffic regulations, specific time slots have been established for the delivery of goods. From May 10 to 31 and from September 16 to October 15, access will be allowed until 11:00 a.m. and again from 5:00 p.m. During the peak activity period, from June 1 to September 15, delivery personnel will be allowed access until 11:00 AM and from 7:00 PM onwards.
Free Rates and Access
The maximum authorised capacity in the area is 384 cars and 1,132 motorcycles. Residents of Formentera will have free access, while non-resident vehicles will pay a fee that varies depending on the season period.
From May 10 to June 15, cars will pay 5 euros and motorcycles 3 euros. Between June 16 and July 15, the rate rises to 6 euros for cars and 4 euros for motorcycles. In the height of summer, from July 16 to August 31, the amounts reach 7 euros for cars and 5 euros for motorcycles, returning to 6 and 4 euros respectively from September 1 to 15, and to 5 and 3 euros from September 16 to October 15.
People with reduced mobility, pedestrians, cyclists, and electric vehicles will be able to access free of charge. Hybrid vehicles will enjoy a 50% discount on the corresponding fee.
Regulation at the lighthouse des Cap, es calĂł des Mort, and es Ram
From May 15th to October 15th, vehicular access to the des Cap lighthouse and the areas of es calĂł des Mort and es Ram will also be regulated. In the area of sa Tanca d’AllĂ Dins, before the access barrier to the lighthouse, a parking lot with a capacity for 60 cars and 100 motorcycles will be set up. From that point, visitors will be able to continue the tour on foot or by bicycle. During peak hours, a controller will regulate vehicle passage and facilitate access for people with reduced mobility.
In es calĂł des Mort and es Ram, the regulation will be based on specific signage and the presence of parking attendants who will inform about the prohibition of parking in these protected areas. However, stopping to drop off or pick up passengers will be allowed. The Local Police, the Civil Guard, and the controllers themselves will be authorised to sanction and remove vehicles that violate the current regulations.
With these measures, the Formentera Council seeks to balance the protection of its most fragile natural spaces with orderly and responsible public use, ensuring that both residents and visitors can enjoy the island sustainably.
